sleep deprivation took hold
Jul. 18th, 2002 01:25 pmMy, it seems that I was just a wee bit tired when I made those journal entries this morning.
Around 6am, Munchkin was still up and wide awake, and I was starting to see Christmas trees doing the can-can on my desk and lemurs cleaning my kitchen. I woke up Nexus and
ldyicefire & told them I couldn't take it anymore, so one of them needed to take over the shift right then. I had been trying to hold out for 8am so they could get as close to a full night's sleep as possible, but as you can see from my entries, there was no way I was going to make it to 8.
I don't like to leave a child unsupervised (especially one that can open front doors and climb onto the kitchen counters) while I sleep... it's just not something I'm comfortable doing. I know other parents who might have handled a similar situation differently than I did, and that's fine; different things work best for different families. It just would have been hard for me to just go to bed at 3am, leaving my 4 year old to wander the apartment on her own, and I think
ldyicefire & Nexus wouldn't have been comfortable doing that either (not to mention I had thought she would nod off back to sleep after about 15 minutes in front of a video... how wrong I was!).
We've all slept some now & things seem better. Munchkin is once again awake, bright & perky, but at least it's at a realistic hour.
