I've spent 45 minutes trying to register for my class online, only to find out that it won't let me register unless I go talk to a counselor (again), who will push a little button so the computer will let me sign up for classes. They aren't answering their voicemail in a timely manner, and are only dealing with walk-ins.

If I had realized that about an hour ago, I could have done that. Since I have to leave for work in 20 minutes, I have to unfortunately wait until tomorrow to speak to a counselor.

Hopefully the class won't be full by then! >:(

Today I go to work, but not at my own store. The Pruneyard/Campbell store is short staffed today & asked for volunteers from other stores.

It's a full 8-hour shift, doing stuff that I don't generally do for 8 hours a day.

The money will be good, but I wonder if I'm going to be pushing myself too hard today? At least I'm off tomorrow.

Today I go back to work for the 1st time since July 5th.

It's nearly midnight, so it's time for me to be sleepy, pills or no pills.

I have a feeling that tomorrow will be... interesting. Saturdays at Trader Joe's always stress me out. If I ever go postal at work, it will be on a Saturday, guaranteed.

Well, maybe on a Monday morning, but a Saturday would be most likely.

At least I know the coffee will be made.

[livejournal.com profile] madbaker will appreciate the frustration...

Yesterday I served panko breaded tilapia fillets with pineapple salsa. One yokel commented, "Hey, these remind me of fish sticks! They'd be even better with some ketchup!"

I just about fell down and cried. Really.

(SIDE NOTE: Sometimes I forget how much I like Robert Plant.)

I survived working at a grocery store the day before the Super Bowl.

At the demo/sample station, we went through 4 urns of coffee (these are 120 cuppers) and 2 gallons of half-and-half. Thirteen bags of white cheddar potato chips, eleven jars of marinated eggplant & roasted red peppers, and 6 boxes of chocolate covered crepe-like cookies. 2,500+ sample cups.

    I'm tired now.

LOST: I lost an hour of work & some joint mobility.

(I accidently punched a block of ice really, really hard at work while breaking up said block for iced tea, and had to come home. My 2nd knuckle in my index finger looks a bit cockeyed and swollen, but it's better than it was. Thank goodness for the other fingers on my hand, or I wouldn't be typing.)

    FOUND: I found my phone!

(My cell phone has been missing for more than a week.)
    spiderdust: (bedtime)
The good news: I get a week off from work!

The bad news: The reason why I have to take a week off of work is because my doctor thinks I have mono, and I can't come back to work until we know for sure (it takes a week for the results to come back from the lab).

So I've got some time off, but I can't even enjoy it. :(

Looks like I now have not one, but two co-workers reading my journal!
I'll have to watch what I say. ;)

And how am I celebrating it?
    By going to work.

    *grump*

    Free time? What's that??
    Days off?? What are those??
A full night's sleep? That's just crazy talk!!

Off to bed I go, only to get up and go back to work in 5 hours so I can train the new person we just (thankfully) hired.

I should be working on the newsletter for work, or something else equally important. Instead, I'm web-browsing & poking around on LJ.

I guess I need to buckle down & actually do some work.

Here I am, at near-midnight, making two King cakes to take to work for Mardi Gras & I can't eat either one of them.

    omg!!

I just picked up my paycheck at work. Apparently I've received a $1/hr. raise!
Since this is the highest raise per quarter that they offer, this is a big deal!!

It's off to work I go.

I'm leaving the Flexeril at home & just relying on ibuprofen today. I've got a stool behind the counter that I can sit on from time to time, but I know my back's going to be pretty tired when I get home.

Tomorrow's going to be a tiring day too; Munchkin has a soccer class, then we head over to San Francisco's Aquarium By The Bay for a homeschooling field trip, and then I have an appointment in the city. After that, a quick (ha!) stock-up trip to Rainbow Grocery & then the drive home. We should arrive back at our place around 7pm or later. :(

There never seems to be enough time to slow down...

    Hey [livejournal.com profile] adameros!

Do you remember the dreadlocked guy who worked with Ilya at the Mountain View Trader Joe's?
He just transferred to our store. He's one of our new managers.

    home sick

I stayed home from work today because I was feeling awful. I don't know if it was the flu or not (I didn't get the shot, and I never do. I have serious misgivings about it.), but I was headachy, my body hurt all over (which isn't a new thing, but it was different from the arthritic body aches I experience every morning), and I felt like I was looking out from a fog. Plus I was coughing & sneezing, and that's not a great thing to be doing when you're serving food.

    So I stayed home.

I'm planning on going tomorrow, because I certainly can't afford to miss much work. I've been dosing myself all day with Airborne, wild oregano oil, astragalus tincture, and oscillococcinum (o-sill-o-cox-see-num). Hopefully that will nip this in the bud, along with rest & fluids.

[EDIT: I'd use the "sick" mood icon, but I hate the little barfing guy.]

Someone was recently fired at work, 2 others have finals this week, and apparently I'm picking up the slack. I'm exhausted, but the money will be handy.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I've been getting frustrated with my artwork lately. There's a piece I've been working with for a couple of months, but I can't get exactly what I'm wanting from it. Sometimes I wish I could just do it by hand. Using a computer to draw is often difficult for me.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Tomorrow night we see the lights. I'm really looking forward to that.

    Bedtime.
