9 hours and 33 minutes.
That's all of the daylight we get right now, just 9 hours and 33 minutes

It's no wonder I get so melancholy and contemplative this time of the year.

It's probably no surprise to some of you that I'm home today. Or rather, I'm home again. I went to work this morning, wondering if I was a masochist, trying to work with a torn knee. In the car on the way there, I asked [livejournal.com profile] nexushoratio if he thought I was pushing myself too hard, and he immediately replied, "Yes." I asked him if we could afford to have me not working this week, and he seemed pretty confident that we'd be fine.

He and I talked about it a bit more until we got to my store. I hobbled in and talked to one of the head managers, who told me that it was actually painful for him, watching me trying to work and move around; he could only imagine how hard it must be for me.

So... I'm home, at least until Wednesday. I'm going to call the ortho surgeon again today, to find out what's going on with the MRI approval, and try to call the workmen's comp coordinator again (every time I've called, I get her voice mail & she hasn't called back).

I was tickled by this morning's Weather Pixie.

it's foggy!

It's foggy!

I've been listening to a good deal of Sleepbot Ambience Broadcast. They've been playing some interesting Christmas music lately, including some from a Scandinavian ensemble called Stämbandet. Their album ...och så kom jul (...and then came Christmas) sounds like a wonderful album for Solstice.

Absolutely lovely. Give them a listen.

I have free time now, since I'm home from work, and I have errands that need to be done. At the same time, I'm dreading going to a store or even trying to get in a car.

I suppose I could just let [livejournal.com profile] ldyicefire do them herself, but one of those errands involves me going to the bank and depositing my paycheck, and she needs money for the rest. Besides, I'd feel guilty having her do them alone.

My MRI has been approved. I'll have it done on Wednesday morning.
Since it's a localized MRI (just of my knee), I was told I won't have to take my nosering out.

Now maybe I'll get somewhere.
