the update you've all been waiting for
Jul. 22nd, 2002 05:47 pmI called my sister yesterday. When I first told her that I had run across her LJ and decided that I needed to talk to her about something, she was alarmed (because I had found her journal). I hadn't anticipated that. Then she thought that I was calling because I was pregnant. No, no, no, no, no. After that was cleared up, I told her:
"myroommatesaremorethanjustroommatesandyoucan'ttellmomanddad."
I admit, I was nervous and pretty vague, and she didn't get it. *sigh* I hemmed and hawed some more, then explained further, that I was poly.
She knew what poly meant. She was surprisingly non emotional about it all, or at least as far as I could tell over the phone. Kind of an "Oh, ok. No big deal." sort of response. She also told me that out of all of the siblings, she was probably the best one to tell this. It turns out that she has a secret or two of her own, so she's not very likely to say anything to the rest of the family. Then after a while, the subject turned to other things, and we talked for an hour before she ended the conversation to go have dinner with my parents.
So I guess it went well. Now both of us can be a little more comfortable discussing our daily lives with the other, and not need to edit as much.
