another one gone
Sep. 8th, 2003 03:38 pmMy mother called me a few hours ago & told me that my Uncle Joe, Dad's youngest brother, passed away either sometime this morning or sometime yesterday. The Meals-On-Wheels lady came to his house & didn't get an answer at the door, so she called the police. The got into the house & found him lying on the floor.
I'm ok -- I hadn't seen or spoken with this uncle in at least a decade -- but I'm concerned about my dad. He's outlived 3 of his brothers.
Uncle Dick was MIA during the Korean War.
Uncle Bob, the oldest, died last year. He was in his 70s.
And now Joe... I'm not even sure if he had turned 60 yet.
My uncle was divorced & lived alone, so my dad is taking care of all of the arrangements. For all I know, he might be financing the whole thing; I don't think my uncle was very well off.
It must be horrible to have to arrange your baby brother's funeral.
