why does this always happen?

Why is it that whenever I have to be up early, I can't sleep? All day I was exhausted... so exhausted, that when I stretched out to read a book this afternoon, I fell asleep & had to be woken up so I wouldn't be late for the movie. I sat exhausted through the South Bay Poly meeting. I sat exhausted through dinner afterwards. And now here it is, nearly 3am, and I'm wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide awake.

I tried to avoid this. I tried watching something mindless & not particularly interesting on TV. I took melatonin. I turned off the TV and tried reading. I put the book away & turned off the book lamp and tried to just lie in the dark & let my mind wander. Nothing seems to be working.

I'm going to be exhausted at work tomorrow, and I'm working during a pretty busy shift. I'm also still fighting this stupid cold/sore throat thingie, and I'm sure my lack of decent sleep hasn't helped.

Bleh.

Due to a freak accident involving a gallon jug of milk, I'm now home from work for at least 3 days.

Oh, the joys of typing with a splint.
